It is that time of year again and so it is time for AMM armada Christmas tree builds. For anyone that is unfamiliar with what Christmas treeing a ship is it means utilizing every single upgrade slot to fully decorate it. This is the first year we have 4 factions so this year I will just do one Christmas tree ship from each faction so here are my favorite Armada Christmas trees from this year.
First up is the CIS.
Providence Carrier (105)
• Shu Mai (4)
• Thermal Shields (5)
• Intensify Firepower! (6)
• Flak Guns (3)
• External Racks (4)
• Point Defense Ion Cannons (4)
• Quad Battery Turrets (5)
• Invincible (5)
• Early Warning System (7)
= 148 Points
I really like this build quite a bit despite how expensive it is. With the double click at speed one you can reposition yourself fairly easy and this makes Quad Battery Turrets a no-brainer to me. External racks give you some extra punch for when you get into close range. Shu Mai+Intensify Firepower gives you very consistent attacks I have also done this without Shu Mai and used Rune Haako in Shu’s place and it still performed very well. Early warning system helps protect your weaker side arcs and thermals double downs on that. While you are going speed 1 you will stay in close range so PDICs make you even more durable. Flack guns are optional but we had to go full Christmas tree it could be reserved hanger decks if that better suited your list.
Up next the Rebels
MC80 Assault Cruiser (114)
• Expert Shield Tech (5)
• Engine Techs (8)
• Electronic Countermeasures (7)
• Early Warning System (7)
• High-Capacity Ion Turbines (8)
• Linked Turbolaser Towers (7)
• Home One (7)
= 163 Points
I have always liked the Assault Cruiser its a durable and has a bit more punch than you might think at first. Engine techs give you speed 3, the defensive combo of EST, EWS, ECM makes you a really tough cookie to crack. LTT gives your reds some re-rolls and HCIT gives you an additional blue out your side for 7 total dice 9 with Ackbar. I also picked Home One title, I think accuracies are a bit undervalued right now particularly when attacking a ship with a single salvo, as it helps keep your ships alive. however, this could easily be changed to Defiance for even more attack dice.
Next up the Republic
Venator II (100)
• Adi GAllia (3)
• Local Fire Control (4)
• Flak Guns (3)
• Reinforced Blast Doors (5)
• External Racks (4)
• DBY-827 Heavy Turbolasers (3)
• Tranquility (3)
= 125 Points
By far our cheapest Christmas tree this one is a bit unique in strategy. It looks a lot like a traditional Venator salvo boat and it is but with a slight twist you drop your redirect for the extra salvo and keep your contain. With both Tranquility and Adi GAllia you do not need your redirect. Contain also keeps damage facedown so you can utilize blast doors more effectively. You also have external racks to help you hit a little harder once you close the distance.
Last up the Empire.
Imperial II (120)
• Captain Needa (2)
• Local Fire Control (4)
• Flak Guns (3)
• Early Warning System (7)
• SW-7 Ion Batteries (5)
• Spinal Armament (9)
• Chimaera (4)
• Intensify Firepower! (6)
= 160 Points
This ISD is capable of staying at range and mitigating long-range die pools between Needa’s evade and EWS. On top of that, anyone that attacks you from long range between SW-7s and Intensify will take a guaranteed 3 damage back because of Local fire control’s salvo. Your defines token loadout is a little weird one brace on redirect an evade and salvo but with smart placement of EWS and an engineering token to move shields around as needed you are still capable of taking a few hits. Once you are in medium range you will start doing tones of damage with a floor of 5 from the front with SW-7 and IF you also have a ceiling of 15 though if you roll that take a photo. You can also take Darth Vader officer to choke out Needa in a pinch. It is weird, but I think that is what intrigues me the most about this Christmas tree.
So there are your Armada Christmas trees this year, what are some of your favorite armada Christmas trees? Until next time have a wonderful holiday!
