I'm not a Coaster

So I got around to listing to the unnamed armada podcast that was released early this month and in their coaster and gold section, they said T-series tactical droid is a coaster card. While I don't think they are great I think they have a place. So why not I think they have a place and I will attempt to argue that. Just to get this out of the way I have no animosity toward anyone from the unnamed armada podcast I love their content I just disagree so let's get into it.

So first T-series lets us resolve a squad command engineering command or a nav command as a dial when we spend a token and exhaust him. That is not terrible however, for the most part, the nav command is fairly useless as the separatist most ships don't really don't care about navigating so it's really all about the squad command and engineering. Command.

First squad tokens are a bit hard for the CIS to come by except for one title Nova defiant.

This ship lets us get 4 tokens to turn one and has a special rule that we can have more than 1 command token of each type. this means we can reveal a dial and get all tokens on nova defiant and take a squad token from your dial now you have 2 squad tokens and 2 tokens to refresh T-series add hondo somewhere and you get 3 squad activations and since the recusant is one of the few ships for the CIS that can take flight controllers this can be pretty impactful. It can do this while keeping a safe distance and contribute to the fight while resolving other commands so it's a pretty good deal. Recusant Support Destroyer (90)

You can take two gozantis with flight controllers for 66 points but there are advantages to taking nova defiant as getting 4 fighters in one go or not being able to be sniped off the table by a pat fist or onager in the early turns of the game, and again staying at a safe distance and it can even help in the squad game while doing so with a red flak die and LTT.

I can also see the possibility of a swivel mount pat fist wanting to take a T-series to con fire and nav but that starts to get messy and you can kind of do the same thing with Trench, but maybe you don't want to do Trench This one is a bit iffy for me.

Munificents are also a great place for T-series particularly the star cruiser. Munificents dont really need to nav but they love con fire and they love engineering now they can do both this makes your Munificents deal more damage than your opponent will expect and make them far tougher than one may expect.

With both Mar Tuuk and a con-fire dial you will be getting a lot of firepower out of the munis then bank a token turn 1 and with hondo your T-series will get to engineer when needed between both the T-series and Wat your munis are going to be really annoying to kill. T-series can also help with the durability of comms munis to keep them pushing squadrons.

So while I dont think T-serires is amazing I do think he has a place even if it is a bit niche I think hondo is petty much mandatory if you are going to use him I really can only justify taking him on a muni or nova defiant. What do you think about T-series? How have you used him? Until next time have a great week!
