So in the last few AMMs we have have looked at ships and squadrons that have not seen to much play, I want to continue that, as it helps people try new things and that helps keep the game fresh and that is what we talked about last week. This week we are going to look at a forgotten ace pilot, that I have never seen used other than by myself, Keyan Farlander.
Keyan Farlander is the B-wing ace from the first squadron pack, the only thing that separates him from other B-wings is his ability, and he has two black dice in his battery armament (in place of a blue and a black) his ability is “while attacking a ship, if the defending hull zone has no shields, you may reroll any number of dice in your attack pool.” This seamed pretty good to me in wave one, I used it my wave one list to help combat the “Gencon special” a VSD screed and 3 GSDs, some versions where just 4 GSDs. Anyway here is that list I used back in the day. In essence the Idea was I would use the B-wings to screen my Frigate that was most in danger of Demo flying in to take it out, and would hit it in the squadron phase, with the B-wings and with my bid, hit it again at the top of the turn with the B-wings and the Frigates guns, it had varying success, but its fun to take a brief trip down memory lane, and this was the last time I saw Keyan used.
Even with Popularity of Rieekan aceholes, he never made a come back. After the nerf of bomber command center that it no longer stacks I thought he would make a comeback, but he never did. I pushed off trying to make something work with him as a lot of people where running B-wings at the time, and I may more may not have PTSD from the Rieekan aceholes haydays, but the Meta has shifted and the game has changed and I don't see many aceholes or B-wing list anymore, so I finally dusted off my friend Keya Farlander, the only surviving Y-Wing Pilot from the battle of Yavin (Legends) and a B-wing pilot at Endor (Cannon from my understanding) , and this is what I came up with.

Really the main Idea is to be able to fish for thoughts hit crits like you used to be able to with stacking bomber command centers using Farlanders ability, and fishing of the hit crits with two bomber command centers was really powerful, and annoying and now we can really only do that that with Farlander making him more appealing post nerf.
We have our Pelta Slingshot the squadrons to where they need to be use Adar, to set up Yavaris, and Norra will help us get off Farlanders ability more reliably. Its pretty simple, but it really scares me and after giving it a go on the table well it is scary what Farlander can do.
So I used the Pelta to slingshot my 4 big bombers (Dagger, Keyan, Ten, and Norra) at an protected ship, and well after all the squadrons went first and striped off the shields from the big guy Keyan went to work. I rolled two standard hits with Keyan used his ability to reroll both dice, got a hit crit and a blank, rerolled the blank with bomber command center, hit crit for 4 total damage from one fighter! I used Adar on Keyan, then my next activation I Yavaris Keyan, and well it was gross to say the least I always got a hit crit on one dice and usually a hit on the other if not a hit crit, it was disgusting.
I might be wrong but I am pretty sure Keya has the highest damage potential for a squdadron when attacking ships in the game, he kinda feels like a rebel Morna, and the spike of 4 damage happens more then you would think in conjunction with Norra his ability, and bomber command center.
It is a little sad that he is so often overlooked, when he has such an insane potential when used correctly. So if you are building a Rebel bomber wing, next time you may want to consider Keyan, as he can do some work for you. Have a wonderful week everyone!
