I have been playing a lot of armada on virtual tabletops, and while I know I still have not gotten the Starhawk or Agate final thoughts up they are coming just need a few more games with Agate Starhawk will likely be up next week, I have stumbled on some interesting builds that I think actually kind of work, when I put them on the virtual table top and played them so I am going to share a few of the Wacky Wonders I have discover on the Virtual tabletop.
First up the Paragon build now I can't take credit for this build it goes back to I believe Biggs from Steel Squadron if I am remembering correctly, but its a thing now trust me.
Assault Frigate Mk2 A (81) • Kyrsta Agate (20) • Walex Blissex (5) • Local Fire Control (4) • Disposable Capacitors (3) • Reinforced Blast Doors (5) • Paragon (5) = 123 Points
Okay so this ship gets some work done when I flew this I got Paragon to trigger rounds 2-6 so yes I got value from him, I unfortunately never did get the dream of salvo then activate to get a black dice on both attacks but it was still a wonderful really though ship.
You use agate to gain a second brace and the evade is dropped for a salvo. This means in order to prevent you from bracing your opponent will need two accrices, but with agate that is still not an issue, so they are likely to lock up the redirect or salvo and with agate and walex its still not a huge deal. the Reinforced Blast Doors can really take you to the next level you are in essence a 9 hull ship now.
This Frigate is run with Intensify Firepower, but if you don't want to run that card in your list this guy will need to take LTT for sure. Disposable Capacitors where my touch I figured since I was going for double arcs it might be worth it and did get me my blue dice on round two so I think its a good addition. This might be my new favorite ship so thanks Biggs if you have an opportunity to try it out I would highly recommend it, and once all this stuff that is going on blows over it will finally give me an excuse to pull out that alt art AF mk2 A card that has been buried for what seams like and probably has been forever, here is the full list I used this guy in, slightly revised:
Assault Frigate Mk2 A (81) • Kyrsta Agate (20) • Walex Blissex (5) • Local Fire Control (4) • Disposable Capacitors (3) • Reinforced Blast Doors (5) • Paragon (5) = 123 Points
Pelta Command Ship (60) • Ahsoka Tano (2) • Medical Team (1) • Intensify Firepower! (6) • Disposable Capacitors (3) = 72 Points
Hammerhead Scout Corvette (41) • Slaved Turrets (6) = 47 Points
Hammerhead Scout Corvette (41) • Slaved Turrets (6) = 47 Points
GR-75 Medium Transports (18) • Comms Net (2) = 20 Points
Squadrons: • Lando Calrissian (23) • 3 x A-wing Squadron (33) • 2 x YT-2400 (32) = 88 Points
Total Points: 397
Next up we have another ship from the days for yore the Victory decked out to salvo.
Victory I (73)
• Reeva Demesne (4)
• Local Fire Control (4)
• External Racks (3)
= 84 Points
Okay so pretty bare bones, but when run with Intensify Firepower its a very consistent damage dealer, and if you catch something up close it will have a rough day, I have the darth vader officer standing by on another ships to choke out Reeva in case rerolls are needed on that shot.
let's talk about Reeva she actually works really well on this ship, as you have one brace one redirect and one salvo. The Idea was if the victory got attacked twice it could salvo twice without losing its token, and yes that does work. However having the ability to brace and redirect the big shot then redirect the small shot works pretty well. because of this I found it really easy to utilize all the shields on the victory even with just a single redirect.
it's a tough little ships and it will get work done for you, again if intisivy is not your think LTT is a must, but here is the slightly revised list I ran this guy in.
Imperial II (120) • General Romodi (20) • Emperor Palpatine (3) • Local Fire Control (4) • Reserve Hangar Deck (3) • Electronic Countermeasures (7) • SW-7 Ion Batteries (5) • Chimaera (4) • Entrapment Formation! (5) = 171 Points
Victory I (73) • Reeva Demesne (4) • Local Fire Control (4) • Reserve Hangar Deck (3) • External Racks (3) = 87 Points
Arquitens Light Cruiser (54) • Darth Vader (1) • Hand of Justice (4) = 59 Points
Gozanti Assault Carriers (28) • Taskmaster Grint (5) • Comms Net (2) • Reserve Hangar Deck (3) = 38 Points
Squadrons: • 4 x TIE Interceptor Squadron (44) = 44 Points
Total Points: 399
This last one is probably the least "good" ship, but it was really fun to run a ship this way as a pure support vessel.
CR90 Corvette B (39)
• Ray Antilles (7)
• Projection Experts (6)
• Redundant Shields (8)
• Tantive IV (3)
= 63 Points
Yes its a bit expensive but its really fun and it worked really well in the list I had it in. This guy is all about supporting a key ship the old Ray+Tantive gives our key ship a engineering token on top of the shields we pass to it, and while our engineering is low so we wont be getting back shields Redundant Shields helps us out a bit in that category. It's a weird one alright, but it was really annoying and fun in this list:
Starhawk Battleship Mark II (150) • Kyrsta Agate (20) • Expert Shield Tech (5) • Walex Blissex (5) • Local Fire Control (4) • Quad Laser Turrets (5) • High-Capacity Ion Turbines (8) • Linked Turbolaser Towers (7) • Unity (10) = 214 Points
CR90 Corvette B (39) • Ray Antilles (7) • Projection Experts (6) • Redundant Shields (8) • Tantive IV (3) = 63 Points
GR-75 Medium Transports (18) • Leia Organa (3) • Repair Crews (4) = 25 Points
Squadrons: • 6 x YT-2400 (96) = 96 Points
Total Points: 398
The idea is this list sets up the Starhawk for a big engineering turn while healing it at the same time it was pretty fun.
That's all the Wacky Wonders I have tried the rest has been pretty standard ships, but it's been fun to see some of what new ships and upgrades can bring to older ships. What are some of the Wacky things you have tried with the new upgrades and ships, stay safe, and until next time have a great week.
